When it comes to starting a new web dezign
the layout of a web page can be infinitely variable. Pictures, graphics and colors can
be put anywhere on the screen. Like a good painting, less can be more.
Your color scheme is critical.
Colors have meaning, e.g. blue is seen as professional, but equally cold, red is bold and sexy but can also be outrageous.
Typically a business has a color scheme already, even if they don't know it.
It may be the color of their office, their delivery trucks or what they have on their office signage.
Any web dezigner can quickly provide
a range of color choices to allow customers to find the colors that work for them. It's similar to
the idea of the paint strips at the paint store, there is a huge range to choose from and you get to choose.
After basic color, creating corporate emblems is key to image development.
This can include logos, product graphics, musical jingles or even textual trademarks.
Website dezign often starts with collecting together all the existing logo material for re-use or
developing new imagery to give the first impression of the company.
A photograph of the product or a building is often an iconic first page choice.
Websites needn't be limited to static images, animations and video can liven up a site visually.
Dezigning recommends that you limit your efforts towards dynamic visuals.
Unless it reinforces a corporate message, movement on the screen distracts the user from reading the
written content and defocuses the message or information you are trying to get across.
Video and animation is often bulky to download slowing web speed for the large bulk of web users who still use dial-up.
Try and avoid adding web effects just because they are cute, the general recommendation is to keep it simple.
Focus on a strategy for website navigation.
Is it really easy for the visitor to find what they are looking for? Are visitors scrolling their screen
reviewing very long pages, making themselves dizzy in the process?
Take a look at the websites in our successes page and see if you can find
your way around those sites.
Do you want a Guestbook, a Blog, a Storefront or just a page hit counter? Then look for PHP support on your web host.
You need not reinvent the wheel, these applications already exist written in PHP and are available. Dezigning can help you with the
loading and configuration. Take a look at our Guestbook as an example.
Are you data-driven? Then consider XML and javascript.
